Previewed last year as a saloon concept and debuting at the brand’s 2025 EV Day event next week, the new arrival will sit above the newly launched EV3 and below the incoming EV5 as the carmaker continues to plug gaps in its EV proposition.

Its arrival in both hatchback guise and the previously announced saloon model will also enable more buyers to experience “the unique experience of modernity and practicality that defines the Kia EV family, in a way that suits their varied lifestyles and needs”, according to Karim Habib, executive vice president and head of Kia global design.

The hatchback, the prime model for the UK and Europe, is a “nimble, versatile all-rounder” that’s “distinctive and clean” and “built to excel in any situation”.

The four-door fastback version, targeted more at other global markets, will offer a “fresh take” on saloon sector with “a sleek, low nose and long-tail silhouette”.

Technical details are still under wraps for now but the EV4 will be built on the E-GMP platform that also underpins Kia’s other EVs.

As with the existing EV3, EV6 and flagship EV9, it’s rooted in the South Korean firm’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy with dynamic profiles for both variants, blending “sharp, distinctive lines with bold, technical detailing”.

Both models feature Kia’s signature EV Tiger Face with vertically orientated headlamps and the brand’s Star Map lighting signature.

The fastback “reimagines saloon typology” with a sleek, streamlined silhouette and, distinctive two-piece rear spoiler.

The hatchback gets a clean, contemporary design, featuring contrasting black vertical C-pillars, machined 19-inch wheels and geometric patterns on the lower body sections.

Interior details are still under wraps for now but the brand says the EV4 will come with “advanced technologies that resonate with lifestyle-focused buyers who are eager to explore”.

As with the brand’s other EVs, the line-up will include a sporty, tech-laden GT-Line variant with exclusive design elements while range-topping GT versions are expected too.

The EV4 will debut at the 2025 Kia EV Day, taking place in Tarragona, Spain, on 27 February, alongside the PV5 midsize electric van and the brand’s Concept EV2.

The event will also feature an announcement of Kia’s expanded electrification strategy and the brand’s plans for its electric van business, vision, product line-up and launch to support the rollout of the PV5.
