Kia reveals all-new Sportage and European-spec Optima
Due on sale across Europe from Q1 2016, the fourth-generation Sportage brings an all-new exterior design, a host of advanced new technology features and improved quality.
The interior brings higher quality materials and a updated design, as well as improved practicality and an array of technologies. A range of new and updated engines and transmissions will result in enhanced efficiency and performance, while ride, handling and refinement are all improved. In addition, for the first time, a new ‘GT Line’ specification is being made available to Sportage customers.
Kia also unveiled the Optima in European specification, which it said would play an important role in its product line-up, and seek to introduce the brand to an increasing number of new customers.
On sale from Q4 2016, the new Optima builds on the current model with updates to the exterior and interior plus increased occupant space, new technologies and updated powertrains plus Kia’s first-ever high performance Optima in the form of a GT model.
The all-new Kia Optima will go on sale across Europe in Q4 2015, with the Optima GT to follow in 2016. The Optima range is due to expand in future, with the addition of a new body style inspired by the Kia SPORTSPACE concept car, first shown at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show.
Alongside the two new arrivals, Kia has also unveiled the upgraded Kia cee’d – complete with revised styling – and the company’s latest powertrain technologies including an all-new 1.0-litre ecoTurbo (turbo gasoline direct injection) engine and the brand’s newly-developed seven-speed DCT (double-clutch transmission), both of which are debuted on the cee’d.
