The model is built on an extended version of the company’s new GA-L rear-wheel drive platform.

Longer, wider and lower than its predecessor, the new model is built on an extended version of the company’s new GA-L rear-wheel drive platform for luxury vehicles (GA–L), which was also used for the LC 500 coupe. Helped by the use of ultra-high tensile steel sheet and aluminium, the new model brings a 90kg weight saving.

The new LS also introduces a new twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 petrol with 421hp and a projected 0-100kph time of 4.5 seconds, plus the segment’s first 10-speed automatic transmission.

It also introduces new safety features under the Lexus Safety System + including pedestrian detection with active steering.

No launch timing has been announced.
