Mr Marsili will be responsible for driving Zipcar’s European expansion, bringing the car sharing concept to new markets and accelerating the company’s growth in this key territory.

He was previously managing director, southern region, for Avis Budget Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), and has held a number of senior roles across the company, including managing director of Avis Budget in Spain. He has also held senior positions at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) Commercial Finance and General Electric.

‘Zipcar has set the global standard for car sharing and we look forward to its continued success in Europe under Massimo’s leadership,’ said Larry De Shon, president, Avis Budget EMEA. ‘We plan to realise growth and expansion opportunities for the Zipcar brand, as we bring the economic and environmental benefits of car sharing to more urban residents across Europe.’

‘The car sharing model is shaping the future of urban mobility in cities around the world, and Zipcar has already gained traction in key markets such as the UK, Spain and Austria,’ said Mr Marsili. ‘I’m excited to share the Zipcar mission of enabling simple and responsible urban living across Europe, and this is a great time to join Zipcar as it continues to innovate and lead the way in the mobility sector.’
