SAIC’s Maxus brand has revealed its Mifa 9 electric MPV, arriving next year with a range of up to 323 miles (520km).

The Mifa 9 electric MPV will be available in the UK and Ireland from Q3 2022

Unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, it will launch first in SAIC’s home market of China before coming to the UK and Europe from Q3 2022, where it will be sold as part of the expanding Maxus electric vehicle range alongside its vans.

Measuring 5,270mm long and available as either a seven- or an eight-seater, it’s the first model to be built on SAIC’s Mifa platform, which could also provide the basis for future SUVs and pickups.

The powertrain uses a 245hp electric motor with a maximum torque of 350Nm and powered by a 90kWh battery. A long-range variant is also believed to be on the cards.

Three trim levels will be offered and will put the focus on luxury travel, including motorised seats with support functions and including ventilation, heating and massage functions.

The Mifa 9 will also be equipped with an intelligent driving assistance system that operates in situations such as narrow road traffic, helping drivers avoid obstacles on both sides, and providing assisted parking.

A new ‘intelligent driving housekeeper’ will also debut, automatically recognising driving style and adjusting the vehicle.

Further details will be announced in the coming months.
