Mercedes reveals E-Class Coupé
Mercedes has unveiled its new E-Class Coupé, which launches next year, bringing increased space and latest technologies.
The fourth model in the E-Class line-up, the Coupé is based on the Saloon and is 123mm longer and 74mm wider, providing extra rear legroom and front and rear shoulder room. It also brings a wider and longer track, benefiting driving dynamics.
Interior highlights include two optionally available high-resolution 12.3-inch displays that bring a ‘floating’ Widescreen Cockpit effect.
Connected services are carried over from the saloon and include the COMAND Online connectivity system, which wirelessly integrates the smartphone into the vehicle’s infotainment system.
Engine line-up at launch brings one diesel and three petrol engines. The 194hp 2.0-litre E 220 d diesel offers 106g/km and official combined fuel economy of 4.0l/100km with a 0-100kph time of 7.4 seconds and top speed of 242kph.
Two 2.0-litre petrols are offered, the E 200 and E 300. The 184hp E 200 has 136g/km with official combined economy of 6.0l/100km, 0-100kph in 7.8s and top speed of 240kph. For the 245hp E 300, the figures are 147g/km, 6.4l/100km, 6.4s and 250kph respectively.
At the top of the launch line-up is the 333hp E 400 4MATIC, which offers 183g/km and 8.1l/100km combined with 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds and top speed of 250kph.
Further engine variants and 4MATIC versions will follow.
Driver assistance technologies include Active Brake Assist as standard, which can warns the driver of an imminent collision, provide optimum support with emergency braking and, if necessary, also autonomously apply the brakes. It can also detect potential frontal collisions with pedestrians in slower-moving traffic.
Other highlights include the Drive Pilot technology semi-autonomous cruise control system which works at speeds up to 210kph and the Remote Parking Pilot system that enables the vehicle to be moved into and out of garages and parking spaces remotely using a smartphone app.
