ALD Automotive is using tech specialist Munic to support the global rollout of its new ProFleet connected vehicle solution.

The Munic devices are fitted to each vehicle to collect and transmit a broad range of real-time encrypted vehicle data, which is stored on a secure, cloud platform

The latest ProFleet package delivers an enhanced connected car solution, providing fleet managers and drivers access to real-time connected car data. The data enables fleet managers to monitor overall fleet activity, including the prevention of prolonged vehicle downtime, apply geofencing policies, the management of CO2 emissions, locate stolen vehicles, and identify fuel optimisation opportunities.

Supporting this, Munic – a specialist in artificial intelligence and embedded technologies for the automotive and fleet sector – is providing Edge Computing devices (OBD dongles) in addition to a new vehicle data platform.

The devices are fitted to each vehicle to collect and transmit a broad range of real-time encrypted vehicle data, which is stored on a secure, cloud platform. The data is processed, enriched and used to provide a wide range of connected technology fleet services through a customisable portal for fleet managers and dedicated mobile app for drivers.

Aaron Solomon, CEO of Munic, explained:“The OBD smart dongles and Munic’s Edge and AI platform were selected by ALD Automotive for their unique ability to decode and process the extreme diversity of vehicle data. More and more service operators, integrators, and the wider automotive industry are utilising these technologies to access vehicle data and facilitate the launch of new services We are delighted with this collaboration with ALD Automotive, which will accelerate the emergence of new services and use cases around vehicle data.”

John Saffrett, deputy CEO at ALD Automotive, added:“Connected car solutions go beyond traditional administration services by connecting the fleet manager real- time with their fleet to make better informed decisions and take fleet management to a new level. We are pleased to leverage Munic’s Edge Computing platform and expertise across a growing number of our markets worldwide to fundamentally change the way mobility is managed going forward.”
