Based on a survey by TNS among 3,377 lease drivers in 20 countries worldwide, the research finds that nearly 10% of lease drivers are interested in corporate car sharing.

Nick Salkeld, chief commercial officer at LeasePlan, said: “In our opinion, this is a relatively high percentage for a consumer group that is used to having its own car. We see that younger generations are relatively more willing to share cars. With more and more people living in cities the interest will increase in the coming years.”

Corporate car sharing has become an important topic for fleet managers looking for a higher utilisation ratio of pool cars. This requires a solution to the administrative and operational hassle of registering drivers and handing out keys, kilometre registration administration and damage, cleaning and fine management.

LeasePlan added that it introduce a new car sharing proposition by Q3 2015.
