The company’s data shows that its lease drivers received over 37% more penalties in the first half of 2013 than the same period in 2012.

‘Although the average amount per ticket in the first half of 2013 is lower than last year, there are much more driven fines. This is mainly due to additional strobes and more speed checks. All in all, this resulted in the government than 7.5% more revenue from fines on,’ said commercial director Dick Cozijnse.

The data shows that women have on average slightly more often (3%) more fines than men, although the amount of the fine is the same or lower: Women pay on average €69 per ticket, men €72.

One in eight fines were illegal parking, for example in a disabled spot.

Mr Cozijnsen added: ‘If you park unlicensed in a parking lot for disabled, the fine amounts to €360 excluding administration. Pay close attention to where and how long you park: as quick errands may just turn out more expensive than planned.
