Cost of Collisions Calculator is now available on The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS)

Available free of charge for NETS members, the calculator works for fleets of all sizes and is intended to help firms make the business case to support investment in employee-wide safe driving programmes.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 37,461 lives were lost on US roads in 2016.

A report released by NETS in 2015 estimated that US traffic crashes in 2013 cost employers $47.4bn in direct crash-related expenses which include medical care, liability, lost productivity and property damage. The overall figure comprised $25.2bn for on-the-job crashes and $22.3bn for off-the-job crashes. The research also indicated that 1.6 million working days were lost in 2015 due to crashes.
