Now dubbed the NP300 Navara, the new model brings the previous version’s off-road ability, durability and loading capacity but with an updated chassis and the brand’s crossover styling used on the Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke. It also introduces a new five year or 160,000km manufacturer warranty.

Designed for as well as manufactured in Europe, the NP300 Navara is offered in both King Cab and Double Cab models and brings a bold front end with Nissan’s signature V-motion grille and boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights.

The fully re-designed interior and includes a new dashboard layout with a sculpted appearance that creates increased cabin space and a more open feel. Spinal Support front seats offer improved ergonomics and greater alertness, engineered using technology inspired by NASA. Further features include the dual-zone digital climate control for both King Cab and Double Cab models as well as new rear cab ventilation and seat design, to provide a more comfortable travelling environment for passengers.

The new model also brings improved ride and handling thanks to an all-new five-link rear suspension system for the Double Cab model that is 20kg lighter than the previous leaf spring layout.

The leaf spring design has also been majorly overhauled for the King Cab and the new over slung leaf weighs 7kg less than the previous under slung design as well as giving the King Cab a 3.1% improvement in rear wheel approach angle.

The new NP300 Navara also introduces a raft of new in-car technology, including Around View Monitor and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) – said to be new to the segment – as well as Cruise Control, Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA), keyless entry, rear camera and parking sensors.

The NP300 Navara's new 2.3-litre dCi engine is up to 24% more efficient than the unit it replaces and is the cleanest and most economical in its sector. It’s available with two power output options, 160hp and 190hp, with the range-topping version introducing twin turbocharging technology to the sector for the first time and said to bring exceptionally low running costs coupled with substantially reduced CO2 emissions. There will be a choice of two or four-wheel drive and the option of a standard six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The new model also brings improved load carrying and towing ability across the range, with payload ratings now in excess of one tonne across the range and a towing capacity of 3,500kg.

The load bed also brings further Nissan innovations in the form of the brand's C-channel load system, with heavy-duty channels on the rear cabin bulkhead and bed sides to enable the securing of vulnerable loads.

In addition, the new Double Cab's load bed is 67mm longer than the previous model, with a sector-best load bed length of 1,578mm. The King Cab's load bed measures 1,788mm in length.

The all-new NP300 Navara will make its European debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September, when further information will be announced. Final specifications and prices will vary by market and will be announced closer to the launch date.
