Making its debut at September’s Paris Motor Show, the second-generation model goes on sale later this year and is based on the modular EMP2 platform used in the 308. Helped by use of new materials, the new model is on average 100kg lighter than its predecessor, helping deliver economy benefits.

Overall vehicle length is increased by 80mm to 4450mm while the wheelbase is also longer, bringing increased passenger space while a sliding boot floor is also now featured.

The interior has been updated with the addition of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit concept. Technology features include MirrorScreen, induction Smartphone recharging and 3D connected navigation.

In line with Peugeot’s launch of new folding electric bikes and scooters, the 3008 also offers the option to charge the bikes in the boot.

Safety features include Active Safety Brake and Distance Alert with automatic emergency braking plus the Active Involuntary Crossing Line lane departure warning system.

The new model also offers the Driver Alert Warning function plus a 360-degree parking camera system. Engine range covers four diesel options, with 100 and 120hp versions of the 1.6-litre BlueHDi unit plus the 2.0-litre BlueHDi with 150 or 180hp. Petrol units cover a 130hp 1.2-litre PureTech plus the 165hp 1.6L THP. Selected models are also offered with the six-speed auto gearbox.
