Revealed as its hatchback sibling goes on sale, the estate will now offer 610 litres of boot space – putting it ahead of rivals such as the Golf – whilst also offering a completely flat load floor and seats that can be folded with a single action from inside the boot.

Like the hatchback, the new Peugeot 308 SW uses the EMP2 “Efficient Modular Platform” bringing about a weight saving of 140kg compared to its predecessor whilst also improving the overall driving experience according to the brand.

There will be a range of Euro6 petrol and diesel engines available at launch, with the line-up including a new BlueHDi version that emits 85g/km of CO2, setting a new benchmark in the segment.

The brand also promises a modern, sleek and innovative approach for the Peugeot i-Cockpit along with high quality materials as the carmaker looks to move upmarket.

Produced in Sochaux, France, the new model will be equipped with powertrain units from the Trémery and Douvrin sites.

The new Peugeot 308 SW makes its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014, and will go on sale across Europe in the spring.
