New saturation analysis from Targa Telematics could slash car sharing fleet costs

Targa Telematics has introduced a new saturation analysis function that could save car sharing fleets hundreds of thousands of pounds through optimised operations.

The dashboard shows car sharing fleet efficiency savings can be made

The service can be used by fleets and mobility managers through a dashboard that collects data and dynamically shows where and how to intervene to achieve maximum fleet efficiency over time.

The tool leverages data collected from individual vehicles to optimise the allocation of shared vehicles based on actual usage. This enables operational efficiency, reduces costs and helps avoid waste.

The analysis of usage patterns and types of requests also allows fleets to optimise the number of vehicles used across different company offices based on real business transport needs.

Targa’s analysis of real-world cases using the new functionality has shown that a large corporate car-sharing fleet of over 1,000 vehicles could achieve a 16% reduction in the number of vehicles needed, resulting in annual savings of over €600,000 (£502,000) in rental costs.

In another case involving a medium-sized fleet of approximately 300 vehicles, the fleet size could be reduced by 22%, achieving savings of approximately €250,000 (£209,000).

Roberto Bordin, smart mobility product owner at Targa Telematics, said: “Our customers’ needs are always at the heart of developing new services, and saturation analysis is no exception, as it is designed around their real requirements. This allows them to make data-driven decisions based on objective insights and actual operational needs.”
