NewMotion names Melanie Lane as CEO
Electric vehicle charging solutions provider NewMotion has appointed Melanie Lane as its new CEO.
Lane takes on the role after over 20 years at parent firm Shell where she has worked in various marketing, commercial and business development roles.
As CEO at NewMotion, she succeeds Sytse Zuidema, who has held the position for the last five years, and assumes responsibility for the firm’s strategy and future growth, following its acquisition by Shell in 2017. Her initial focus will be on the care of the people, customers and partners of NewMotion during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Elisabeth Brinton, executive vice president, new energies at Shell, said: “Melanie has an impressive track record of transforming businesses by putting the needs and nature of customers at the very heart of her strategic approach. Her leadership will help to ensure NewMotion remains innovative and well placed to support the increase of EV driver numbers across Europe. NewMotion is a critical part of our plans to build an integrated lower-carbon power business that can help Shell in its wider ambition to be a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050 or sooner.”
“I’m excited to be joining this team,” added Lane. “Our NewMotion network and public roaming network are expanding rapidly and will soon reach a new milestone with 150k charge points in the roaming network. This is only the start of the upscaling of e-mobility solutions which is essential to facilitate mass adoption of EVs. We will continue to expand our business to facilitate a cleaner smarter energy future.”
