Nissan’s second EV concept for Tokyo is rugged sports SUV
Nissan has uncovered its new electric vehicle concept, focused on outdoor enthusiasts and previewing new features for its future EV line-up.
The Hyper Adventure is the second in a family of EV concepts that will debut at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show and hint at the brand’s plans to enable drivers with “diverse aspirations” to go electric.
The target market for this concept is “eco-minded outdoor travellers” and the rugged offroader is kitted out to ensure that “travellers reach their destinations smoothly, safely and in style”.
The sports SUV comes equipped with V2X (vehicle-to-everything) technology that enables users to power up gadgets, light up campsites, or even recharge electric jet skis. It’s also able to power homes (V2H) or a local community by contributing surplus power to the grid (V2G).
The interior is also outfitted for outdoor explorers and comes with an instrument panel that connects to the bottom of the windscreen, serving as a screen with a wide field of view. It also features a large cargo space to house equipment such as tents, skis, or even a kayak. It also features a swivelling rear bench seat that’s able to turn 180 degrees and face out of the boot, where passengers can either enjoy the view or climb down the automatic extendable and retractable steps to embark on the day’s activities.
The rugged exterior design optimises the feeling of spaciousness while also enhancing aerodynamics, supported by the sloping rear end.
The concept also comes with Nissan’s e-4orce four-wheel-drive system to ensure ultimate traction whether “travelling over a snowy mountain pass or the muddy trail of a lush rainforest”.
It’s a markedly different approach to the first Hyper concept, revealed last week and focused on urban EV drivers. Two further concepts will be revealed in the run-up to the Japan Mobility Show – the new Tokyo motor show. The concepts will feature in a special video streaming live on the Nissan YouTube channel before being displayed digitally at the event, which starts on 25 October.
