At just 3.68 meters long and 1.48 meters high, the new model will become Opel’s entry-level model while it also completes the small car trio next to the Adam family and new Corsa.

Just one engine will be available: a new 75PS 1.0-litre three-cylinder Ecotec engine developed especially for the model and mated to a five-speed transmission. Equipped with the ecoFlex package, consisting of an aerodynamically optimised front spoiler lip and roof spoiler along with low rolling resistance tyres, the Karl emits 99g/km with fuel economy of 4.3l/100km.

Three trims will be available – Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo – along with 10 body colours. There’ll be a 40/60 split foldable rear seat back (optional with Enjoy, standard with Cosmo), bringing maximum boot space to almost 1,000 litres.

Safety and comfort kit includes standard Hill Start Assist and an optional Lane Departure Warning while, like the Adam and Corsa, Karl also features the City mode that reduces steering effort at the push of a button (from Enjoy trim upwards). Park Assist is also available and cruise control with speed limiter is standard from the Enjoy trim level.
