The extended-range versions have been officially homologated and will deliver up to 700km (435 miles) for the E-3008 and 668km (415 miles) for the E-5008, delivering the best electric ranges in the SUV market, according to Peugeot.

The longer range is the result of a new battery and motor combination that also delivers enhanced performance and charging.

Launching alongside the existing entry-level versions, the Long-Range versions team up a more powerful 230hp motor with a 96.9kWh (useable) battery, compared to the 73kWh packs in the standard variants.

Not only does this mean the new extended-range medium and large SUVs can go further without charging but it also beefs up charging capabilities, enabling both models to now accept up to 160kW power on DC rapid chargers. This means they can now charge from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes.

The higher-capacity battery is only 15mm thicker, ensuring the new Long Range models carry over the cabin and boot space dimensions from the standard electric version as well as the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Peugeot will premiere the E-3008 Long Range at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.

Prices for the new extended-range variants are yet to be announced.
