Making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the new 108 includes both three and five-door hatchback versions as well as the 108 TOP folding soft top version! In addition, the brand will offer extensive personalisation options and the latest "connected" technology, including the "Mirror Screen" as it looks to drive the model more upmarket.

‘The new Peugeot 108 participates in the brand’s product offensive and move up-market, with a rewarding and outgoing spirit, emphasised by the personalisation schemes expected by customers,’ said
Xavier Peugeot, product director, Automobiles Peugeot.

The model will again be built at Toyota's plant in the Czech Republic alongside sister models, the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo, which are yet to be revealed.

The Peugeot 108 offers compact dimensions, at 3.47m long and 1.62m wide, with reduced overhangs and a turning circle of just 9.6m, and aims to be one of the lightest and most efficient models in its class.

Boot design is focused on practicality. On opening the tailgate, the parcel shelf automatically folds away against the rear screen and reveals a boot space of 196 litres with the puncture repair kit or 180 litres with the spare wheel. This extends to 750 litres with the 50/50 rear seat folded, with the straps to do this accessible from the boot. There’s also a low loading sill that’s just 77cm off the ground, and a metre-wide space between the wheel arches.

Design is focused on urban appeal as well as a more premium look and includes a bold grille, central beam and lower air intake, with front lamps firmly set into the bodywork and LEDs for daytime running lights.

Inside, the brand says the comfortable cabin – which will be revealed at Geneva – feels like it has come from a much larger premium car and features an intuitive design. Once again, the speedo housing is mounted on an adjustable steering column and includes an analogue speedo and LCD screen.

A wide range of personalisation options is offered, including eight choices of body colour of which two are exclusive to the model, while the three-door hatchback gets two choices of two-tone paint. Meanwhile the 108 TOP! model has the choice of three retractable fabric roof colours – Black, Grey or Purple Berry.

In addition, there are seven personalisation themes, three interior themes and a choice of six trims.

The new model has also been designed to bring innovations in connectivity including the Mirror Screen technology, which can connect the 7-inch display, standard from Active trim, to the driver’s smartphone and can be used to control applications by voice commands using the voice recognition system. It also interfaces with the audio system, trip computer and for vehicle settings.

Engine range comprises four three-cylinder petrols. These include a 68bhp 1.0-litre VTi offering 88g/km in the e-VTi version with Stop & Start technology or 95g/km without – both of which come with a five-speed manual. The unit is also offered with a five-speed electronic transmission and delivers 97g/km CO2. The most powerful engine is an 82bhp 1.2-litre PureTech VTi with a five-speed manual and 99g/km CO2.

Pricing for the new 108 will be announced closer to its launch.
