Renault is to begin production of its first Chinese-market electric car, as part of its joint venture with Dongfeng Group.
The vehicle will be based on the Fluence Z.E. and is set to be produced at the forthcoming factory in Wuhan from 2017 for the Chinese market only.
It’s part of the €870m Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company, a 50/50 joint venture formed in December 2013. Wuhan, which has a capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year, will begin production next year, initially focused on a local range of crossovers.
