Renault Trafic SpaceClass targets high-end shuttle market
Renault is to launch a passenger-carrying version of its Trafic van with a focus on the premium market.
The Trafic SpaceClass is particularly aimed at companies and hotels operating shuttles from train stations and airports as well as taxi drivers and independent chauffeurs.
Debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, the Trafic SpaceClass brings room for up to nine people with modular seating in rows two and three enabling over 50 different configurations. It can also transform into a mobile office with pivoting seats and a removable central table containing numerous storage spaces, depending on the version, while all models bring 220V and USB sockets for charging laptops and electronic devices, including in the rear of the vehicle.
Comfort-orientated features include dark-tinted rear windows, air conditioning, individual LED reading lamps and optional leather seats, and the Trafic SpaceClass also offers a 7-inch screen for the MediaNav navigation system or R-Link with Android Auto, and reversing camera, depending on the version.
Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president, global head of Renault-Nissan Light Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, said: “Trafic SpaceClass is an entirely new product that fulfils the requirements of customers looking for a best-in-class driving and comfort experience. We chose the Cannes film festival as the first time to debut this high-end vehicle to show that it can be used effectively with VIPs and business people all the way to the airport.”
The Trafic SpaceClass will launch in September 2017 in the main European markets.
