Significant growth reported for True Fleet Market in Eastern Europe

By / 8 years ago / News / No Comments

In the Czech Republic, the True Fleet Market has been consistently growing over the last a couple of years. Between 2013 and 2015 this segment grew by +47%. The upswing is obviously continuing in 2016 with +21.7% for the first five months. All five months achieved their highest volume ever.

Skoda continues to dominate its home market and even extended its YTD market share to 39.4%. Six out of the top seven models in fleets are Skodas with Octavia in the lead followed by Fabia, Superb, Volkswagen Passat, Rapid, Rapid Spaceback and Yeti.

Behind Skoda and Volkswagen, Hyundai has become very popular and established itself as number three since 2013. This is supported by the fact that Hyundai-Kia is considered as a local brand since it is producing cars in the country.

The biggest improvement in terms of percentage growth has been achieved by Audi with + 67.7% from January-May ranking in eighth position (last year number 12).

With more than 80,000 new registrations for the first five months the fleet market in Poland is much bigger than the one in Czech Republic and especially the one in Slovakia. The relative growth rate however is comparable and in between those two countries with + 23.2% year-to-date.

Skoda is the strongest player with a market share of 15.7%. The battle for second place is really close. Volkswagen took over rank number two from Toyota which is only 100 registrations behind. The top eight are completed by Ford, Opel, Hyundai (+49.2% compared to January-May 2015), Kia and Renault (+51.5%).

The data also shows that diesel models are coming under pressure: with 45.0% the diesel share is significantly lower than in previous years and the lowest across the European fleet markets behind the Netherlands and Norway where alternative fuels are heavily supported and performing very strongly.

In Slovakia, there was record volume for True Fleets. New passenger car registrations on private customers grew by +11.4% from January to May 2016. That’s a great result but the True Fleets registrations even increased by +24.0% in the same time. The absolute volume for the first five months is the highest since Dataforce started analysis in 2004.

Similar to Czech Republic and Poland number one in the fleet business is Skoda followed by Volkswagen. But Hyundai and Kia in third and fourth position are catching up with growth rates of +47.5% and +30.1% respectively. The Hyundai Tucson is currently number five in the model ranking, only one single registration behind Volkswagen Golf. The most popular Kia is the cee’d in eighth position YTD.
