Global fleet management software provider AssetWorks has hired Simon West-Oliver as sales and business development director.

Simon West Oliver, sales and business development director at AssetWorks International

West-Oliver brings 30 years’ experience across the fleet, transport and distribution sectors, and joins the AssetWorks team to help the business expand into new markets.

West-Oliver said: “These are exciting times for the automotive sector, as we see the greatest changes around decarbonisation, mobility management and the growing emphasis on usage as opposed to ownership. The shift from oil to data being the real powering source, requires a different type of fleet management that is more integral and environmentally responsible.”

He added: “AssetWorks are one of the few organisations who can deliver the software this new infrastructure will demand and support the industry stakeholders ability to embrace the emerging new mobility demands.”

Previous work by West-Oliver including the launch of the FOCIS (Fleet Operators Computerised Information Systems) in 1988, said to have dominated the early micro-based offerings as one of the first telemetry connected platforms with Tektronix and the EURO Group.
