Škoda has unveiled new details of its Elroq fully electric compact SUV in advance of its autumn world premiere.

The Elroq also includes a split headlight design and Matrix-LED headlights, while debuting a new bespoke Timiano Green colour, teamed up with unique dark chrome details. It’s also the first Škoda to display the brand’s lettering prominently on the bonnet.

A look at the rear reveals a bold roof spoiler and slim LED taillights, along with dark chrome accents, such as the centrally positioned lettering on the tailgate and the 2D Škoda logo on the centre caps of the alloy wheels.

The Elroq will be the third Škoda model based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular electric car platform, joining the Enyaq and the Enyaq Coupé.

The brand has previously said it provides an “electric counterpart” to the Karoq, although it’s not known if it will officially replace it.

The line-up will include four powertrain variants – the Elroq 50, 60, 85 and 85x – mirroring the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé. Battery size and motor output vary depending on the version.

The entry-level Elroq 50 features a 170hp rear-mounted motor and a 55kWh battery, while the Elroq 60 ups this to a 201hp motor and 62kWh battery. Range hasn’t been announced for these variants.

The Elroq 85 and Elroq 85x versions are equipped with an 82kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive Elroq 85 delivers 285hp, while the Elroq 85x includes an additional electric motor on the front axle, offering all-wheel drive as standard and peak power of 300hp.

Both the Elroq 85 and the 85x variants have a top speed of 180km/h (112mph) and deliver an electric range of some 560km (348 miles).

The Elroq 85 and Elroq 85x offer DC charging at up to 175kW while all four powertrain versions can be charged from 10% to 80% in under 28 minutes.

Škoda’s upcoming compact SUV also offers boot capacity of 470 litres, increasing to up to 1,580 litres. The cabin delivers 48 litres of storage space and also showcases new Simply Clever features. These include an optional storage net for a charging cable under the parcel shelf, which itself is adjustable, enabling smart and flexible use of the cargo space.

The Elroq also debuts a QR code in the boot. After scanning, it provides a quick overview of the equipment and functions available in the vehicle or shows interactive video instructions on how to use the parcel shelf or net systems, for example.

Karl Neuhold, head of exterior design at Škoda Auto, said: “Thanks to its long range and rugged body style, the Elroq will be the perfect companion for Everyday Explorers on outdoor adventures, while its compact size also makes it ideal for urban driving.”
