Škoda in-car alerts to tell drivers of nearby retailer discounts

Škoda is trialling new in-car alerts that will tell drivers of discounts at nearby petrol stations, restaurants and supermarkets.

The Marketplace service will roll out with petrol stations initially, but will expand to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and car washes

Initially being piloted in the Czech Republic but with other markets to follow, the Marketplace service can be activated by drivers and will enable the infotainment system to tell drivers about local offers from various partner companies. It will roll out with petrol stations initially, but will expand to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and car washes, alongside other services in the future.

If the driver is interested in the offer, the sat-nav will direct them there and their phone will be updated with a barcode or QR code to apply the discount at the checkout.

In time, the service will be able to be tailored to the individual driver, based on behaviour, frequent routes and daily routines

Customers will need to activate the Škoda Connect app and register for Škoda Marketplace inside the vehicle. The new service can be used on the latest infotainment systems fitted in the Scala, Superb, Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq.
