Soaring fleet sales push moDel to another record year

MoDel, the B2B vehicle handover solution from Ebbon Automotive, has reported a record performance for the second successive year.

MoDel recorded 1.24 million deliveries and collections in 2024; up 17% year-on-year

The solution, cited as the UK’s most widely used vehicle handover platform, recorded 1.24 million deliveries and collections in 2024, up 17% year-on-year.

A factor in the outstanding performance was the growth in the fleet market, which was up 12% year-on-year and saw six in 10 new cars delivered to fleet operators – a record level.

The overwhelming majority of moDel users operate within the UK fleet market – leasing companies and brokers plus vehicles manufacturers and the fastest-growing sector, vehicle logistics companies, which grew by 38 new companies last year to over 90 in total now.

The platform also saw significant growth in Europe, predominantly in France and the Netherlands, on the back of existing customer relationships with major leasing companies and vehicle manufacturers.

Ebbon Group developers have introduced modifications to the system so that it can accommodate European business practices and gear up for further European expansion.

“MoDel is predominantly fleet-focused and the record levels of fleet sales in 2024, with 60% of new car registrations going to fleets, certainly contributed to this outstanding performance,” said Michael Terry, Ebbon Automotive’s head of commercial – logistics.

Terry said new releases during the year had also played a part, with new functionality introduced on a regular basis, often at the request of the moDel user group.

“New developments, such as our API integration methodology, allowed moDel to integrate more readily into the back offices of customers and made a significant contribution to the results.

“We also introduced changes to our showroom handover regime, based on user feedback, to allow customers to switch the job profile more easily from delivery to showroom and vice versa without going through a lengthy cancellation process.”

MoDel also continues to evolve the driver diary module, allowing customers to more readily allocate jobs electronically to delivery drivers.

“Some 37,500 drivers now have access to the moDel app in the UK with a further 7,000 across Europe,” Terry added.

Despite the success, Ebbon Automotive says it’s not resting on its laurels this year as it looks to continually develop the platform for the benefit of users.

“There are a number of new and exciting releases already in the pipeline for 2025 that will continue our commitment to moDel’s development.

“For example, we are planning changes to our ‘form console’ feature which will look at enhancing the level of data collected at the vehicle handover and making it more bespoke. This will provide customers with more detailed information to match their exact requirements.

“We are also looking at a multi-car transport module to assist vehicle manufacturers in capturing deliveries to their dealer networks. As the saying goes, ‘watch this space’,” Terry summed up.
