So said managing director, Gemar Hompes, ahead of a celebratory dinner for customers, suppliers and guests to mark the company’s 25th anniversary.

‘As a cross-functional solution, Miles bridges the gap between B2B and B2C, with a host of benefits for companies that have diversified business lines and want a unified system,’ Mr Hompes said.

‘Many things have changed during the past 25 years, during which we have grown from a small, local Belgian company to an international market leader with a solid reputation, boasting 125 employees and offices in four countries.

‘But, as a future-orientated company with a strong focus on innovation, we always look forward instead of back.

‘There are many exciting opportunities ahead of us. For example, a completely overhauled and modernised Miles user interface is about to be released. This will both improve the user experience and enhance efficiency.

‘Furthermore, we will keep leveraging Miles’ flexibility to make it fit for a broader market, through asset and product variability. And we will continue to be on top of evolutions in the fleet market, with mobility management being just one example.

‘In addition to our ongoing implementations, a number of important new projects are about to start, bringing Miles to new customers in unexplored territories. And, of course, to fuel and assist our continuing growth, we are always on the lookout for talented people to join our teams,’ he said.

Sofico was founded in Ghent in 1988 and now generates revenues amounting to €16.9m while Sofico’s systems help manage over 1,000,000 vehicles worldwide.

Sofico started out with Leasebase, aimed primarily at contract hire and leasing companies. In the early 2000s, its current generation software, Miles, was announced.

In 2010, Sofico started work on a new browser-based Graphic User Interface (GUI), a so-called Rich Internet Application. Miles RIA delivers Miles’ extensive back office functionalities through a web browser with multiple customer benefits.

Last year, Sofico launched Miles Mobile, catering for the increasing need for mobile access to information and functionality related to company cars.

‘There is still plenty more to come. Sofico is an innovative company with the ambition to be a technological forerunner within its industry. For this reason, we make an annual strategic investment of 2,000 to 2,500 mandays into product innovation,’ added Gemar Hompes.
