The RSM facility in Busan, South Korea, will start production in the second half of 2014, with an annual output of 80,000 units, of which most are intended for the North American market.

The MOU was signed by Colin Dodge, head of Nissan's operations in North America, and François Provost, CEO of RSM, and forms part of the RSM revival plan launched in January 2012. RSM also launched the new SM5 last year, and the QM3 and SM3 ZE this year.

Colin Dodge said, ‘This project is an outstanding example illustrating the strong “win-win” synergies of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. In the future, we will continue expanding such cooperative operations.’

Gilles Normand, Renault SVP, Chairman of Asia-Pacific Management Committee, added: ‘This project will also allow RSM to contribute to Renault’s growth in Asia and serve as a hub for the Group’s regional development.

South Korea: Renault Samsung to produce Nissan Rogue for export

Renault has announced that its South Korea-based Renault Samsung Motors brand is to produce the new Nissan Rogue alongside its US plant.
