Spain’s true fleet market rises 8.9% in February
True fleet registrations proved a driving force in Spain’s positive passenger car market growth in February, latest Dataforce figures reveal.
Total passenger car registrations in February reached 102,000 units, up 1.6% month on month, while the true fleet market up 8.9%.
Within the top 10 true fleet manufacturers, Renault moved into second place, with +38.3% growth, helped by good results from the Clio and Megane. BMW jumped three places into fifth with 15.5% growth, driven predominantly by the X1, while Opel entered the top 10 in 10th place, with a 26.1% increase and the Astra and Mokka as the biggest contributors.
Dataforce also noted the steady decline in the market share held by true fleet diesel registrations. Although diesel remained in the top spot, its market share has fallen from 86.0% in 2013 to a low in December 2016 of 77.6%. In contrast, the petrol market share is growing fastest, not only for mini, small and compact cars but with SUVs as one of the biggest contributors too.
