Targa Telematics ranked third in Berg Insight European connected vehicles report
A new report from Berg Insight has ranked Targa Telematics among the top three largest players for fleet management telematics systems in Europe.
The report looks at the number of active telematics systems deployed in commercial vehicle fleets in Europe, which stood at 11.5 million at the end of 2020 and is expected to reach 22.5 million by 2025.
The top 30 vendors currently have more than 100,000 active connected vehicles in Europe, according to Berg, which finds that Targa Telematics significantly contributes to the development of this sector. It had an installed base of around 415,000 connected units at the end of last year.
The ranking has been welcomed by Targa, which has been offering connected solutions in the B2B sector for nearly 20 years.
Its platforms link IoT devices, gather and analyse data, bring advantages to the users through the integration and make use of big data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
This supports both fleet optimisation, such as costs, safety and efficiency, as well as asset management, which can include automated maintenance, enhanced security and integration of electric vehicles.
Alberto Falcione, sales vice president of Targa Telematics, commented: “A connected fleet enables the fleet manager to take efficient and timely decisions based on detailed data; improve the performance; as well as develop and introduce innovative services and products. These latter include shared mobility, corporate car sharing, and pay-per-use and multimodal models; and are increasingly becoming part of the offer for renters of their clients.
“Amongst the main objectives to manage a successful company fleet there is: improving operational efficiency and cost containment of expenditures such as fuel, maintenance and insurance policies; as well as providing security to people and means. One of our strengths is the ability to provide bespoke solutions based on our clients’ needs.”
