ALD Automotive | LeasePlan UK has appointed Tim Laver as country managing director ahead of the launch of its new Ayvens brand identity later this year.

Tim Laver becomes country managing director for the UK ahead of the Ayvens rebrand

Laver assumes the role with immediate effect, taking over from Alfonso Martinez, who has announced plans to retire.

Laver was previously managing director at ALD Automotive and was appointed as deputy country managing director of ALD Automotive | LeasePlan UK when ALD closed its acquisition of LeasePlan in 2023.

He brings more than 20 years’ industry experience and, as managing director of ALD Automotive, is credited with delivering double-digit growth in the corporate fleet segment whilst cementing the company’s leading position in white label partnerships.

Laver will help steer the company with the UK launch of its Ayvens combined brand entity, already rolled out elsewhere.

He commented: “I’m privileged to be given the opportunity to lead Ayvens UK as we embark on this new, exciting chapter.

“As part of our PowerUP 2026 strategy, we plan to leverage our unparalleled industry expertise and data sources to shape the future of mobility and achieve excellence across our four priority areas: operational efficiency, client value, corporate responsibility and profitability. I look forward to working with the team to deliver on this mission.”

The company also heralded the legacy of innovation from Alfonso Martinez, who helped lead LeasePlan UK through the Covid-19 pandemic, oversaw the rollout of EVs across its company and client fleets, and led the company through a successful integration period with ALD Automotive.

Reflecting on his departure, Martinez said: “My time served at LeasePlan, and more recently, at ALD Automotive | LeasePlan, has been the privilege of a lifetime.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues and a huge variety of customers across three countries. Latterly in the UK, we’ve worked hard to lead the transformation of the UK transport sector, paving the way for cleaner, more sustainable mobility solutions. I now leave my position after 18 fulfilling years knowing that we have succeeded in that mission.”

He added: “Tim’s track record of delivering growth, along with his extensive experience, make him the right person to lead the business going forward. I wish him and the rest of the team every success and will remain a close friend of the company.”
