Toyota has confirmed its bZ4X electric SUV will have up to 516km (317 miles) when it imminently launches in the UK and across Europe.

The Toyota bZ4X electric SUV starts customer deliveries in the first markets from this summer

Starting UK customer deliveries from June 2022, the bZ4X is the inaugural model in the carmaker’s new bZ sub-brand – which stands for ‘beyond Zero’ – and official WLTP data now published shows a driving range of up to 516km (317 miles) with front-wheel drive and up to 470km (285 miles) with all-wheel drive.

The carmaker said the level of performance is possible due to the bZ4X’s 71.4kWh battery, which draws on Toyota’s 25 years of experience in electrified vehicle technology and is supported by an optional extended care programme for owners that guarantees battery capacity of 70% after 10 years/1,000,000km (620,000 miles).

Built on a dedicated new platform for battery electric vehicles, using the eTNGA philosophy, the bZ4X also marks the debut of a new all-wheel drive system that uses individual electric motors on the front and rear axles, claimed to give outstanding AWD capability.

Customer deliveries in the first markets are expected from summer this year. A range of different purchase and contract hire offers are available, including a new, all-inclusive vehicle leasing programme that includes maintenance, the provision of a wallbox charger and access to connected services.
