TRACKER acquisition brings perfect data a step closer

The combined businesses will form Tantalum Corporation, with TRACKER set to play a key role in the organisation’s future, as Tantalum’s CEO Cédriane de Boucaud told Fleet World.

'TRACKER is a household name which does what the name suggests, and does it very well,' said Ms Boucaud.

'Lysanda is a young company with tremendous in-house expertise in analysing vehicle and driver performance data. The company really stands out in its own space, and will benefit from the opportunity to deliver its products through the existing TRACKER infrastructure.'

The Lysanda name is relatively low-profile in the fleet industry, but its award-winning Eco-Log product has the potential to revolutionise fleets’ ability to gather and act on fuel consumption and emissions data through telematics units fitted in vehicles.

Eco-Log uses data obtained from the vehicle's On-Board Diagnostic system (OBD), which are processed through a suite of mathematical algorithms (patented) that have been validated on vehicle emissions laboratory tools. The values used include engine load, engine speed, throttle angle, engine temperature, manifold absolute pressure, vehicle speed, manifold absolute temperature, mass air flow, Lambda sensor data, exhaust gas re-circulations, CAT temperature. These are processed against the powertrain characteristics map and Lysanda’s unique mathematical algorithms.

The result is the availability in real time of data that Ms Boucaud says is remarkably accurate. 'We have a tremendous amount of expertise in the interpretation and calibration of vehicle data and while it is impossible to get compatibility with 100% of passenger, LCV and HGV vehicles in the market, we are extremely confident with our performance so far.'

Tantalum Corporation has its sights set on the “big fish” of the fleet and automotive sectors, according to Ms Boucaud. And while Lysanda has already established close links with the OEMs, the TRACKER customer base and infrastructure represents a strong opportunity.

’Everything about the TRACKER deal was right for us. We are at the beginning of an exciting journey,’ concluded Ms Boucaud.
