True Fleet markets in Belgium and Netherlands end 2015 on a high

By / 9 years ago / News / No Comments

The firm noted that with 46,507 new passenger car registrations in December, the Dutch True Fleet market was on the same level as France (46,605). This is by far the highest volume ever in the Netherlands and the increase over December 2014 is very impressive with 114.3%. This pushed the year-to-date growth rate to 34.1%.

All brands within the top 10 in December more than doubled their registration figures versus December last year. Dataforce added that this is not due to a maybe weak basis of comparison since December 2014 was a strong month already.

Analysing the registrations by fuel types is eye-catching. Diesel is still going strong but more than 30% of all fleet registrations in December were equipped with a hybrid powertrain.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV led the ranking of this group of models followed by Volkswagen Golf GTE, Toyota Auris Touring Sports and Volkswagen Passat GTE.

Peugeot’s 308 saw growth of more than 200%, although the French compact car was already number one in December 14. The best ‘new entry’ was Volvo’s XC90, ranking number two in the SUV segment (behind the Outlander) and entering the top 10 across all vehicle classes.

Within Belgium, after a difficult start, the year-to-date growth rate for True Fleets finally reached 5% in September/October 2015 and became better and better over the last few months. In December the fleet business even grew by 34.9% (YTD +8.6%) which is the highest value in 2015.

Within the top 10 brands Opel achieved the biggest improvement over December 2014 jumping from 10th place to seventh position with a growth of 129.3%. The Corsa was especially successful, leading the Small Car segment.

Dataforce added that another great result can be reported for Volvo in sixth position with an increase of its True Fleet registrations by 92.0%.

And Belgium is yet another market where SUV take-up is fast expanding. In December the segment succeeded in overtaking Compact Cars and became the strongest segment within True Fleets for the first time ever. This was caused by a combination of model events: new entries in 2015 (Land Rover Discovery Sport, Renault Kadjar), new generations (Hyundai Tucson, Volvo XC90) and an excellent performance of top-sellers like Nissan Qashqai or Volvo XC60.

However, the ranking of the most popular models shows a big variety of models and segments. Renault Scenic in front representing the Van segment followed by Opel Corsa (Small), Audi A3 (Compact) and two models of the middle sector: Volkswagen Passat and Mercedes C-Class.
