Updated Jaguar XJ brings new look & lower emissions
On sale from the autumn, the new model brings subtle exterior changes including full LED headlights and a more prominent grille plus new LED taillights.
The changes also see the interior gain new leather upholstery and inlay veneers. In addition the outgoing Portfolio trim is now used for the Premium Luxury model while the new Portfolio gains quilted soft-grain leather seats with diamond stitching and embossed headrests, and figured ebony veneer.
The line-up also sees the addition of a new Autobiography model, which is available only with the long-wheelbase body. The Autobiography features chrome front bumper air intakes and 20-inch wheels along with quilted leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, a leather headliner, rich oak inlay veneer, and illuminated stainless steel treadplates, air vents and boot finisher. Rear seats gain a massage function and a bespoke entertainment system with two folding 10.2-inch HD screens.
Also new to the line-up is an R-Sport model with new side sills, three-piece front splitter, side power vents and a rear spoiler plus 20-inch alloys. The interior gains sports seats, R-Sport steering wheel and treadplates, Jet headliner and piano black trim or carbon fibre.
Engine updates see more power and efficiency for the 3.0-litre V6 diesel automatic, boosting power and torque from 275hp/600Nm to 300hp/700Nm whilst emissions fall from 159g/km to 149g/km CO2.
The rest of the line-up is carried over from the existing range and comprises a 340hp 3.0-litre V6 petrol automatic plus 510 and 550hp 5.0-litre V8 petrol automatic. All powertrains feature a specifically optimised eight-speed automatic from ZF. Other changes see the adoption of electric power-assisted steering (EPAS).
Infotainment and connectivity equipment includes door-to-door navigation, Wi-Fi, smartphone connectivity and Meridian digital audio systems. Customers can also specify a rear seat entertainment system.
The new XJ is the also latest Jaguar to offer the InControl Apps technology to connect Apple and Android smartphones to the vehicle's infotainment system, via a USB cable.
