US: GE Capital Fleet Services announces safety recall reporting system with Carfax

Currently, recall notices are distributed directly from manufacturers to vehicle operators, putting the initiative to bring vehicles in for servicing with individual drivers rather than the fleet manager. This can result in the non-uniform handling of recalls across the fleet and can ultimately hinder driver safety.

Under the agreement, GE will have access to Carfax’s vehicle data to identify vehicles from more than 30 automotive OEMs across customers’ fleets with recalls that have not yet been performed. The data will be turned into a customized web report that provides a complete picture of the open recalls across a specific fleet.

'By any measure, driver safety remains a top concern of fleet managers,’ said Ed Faulstick, senior vice president – operations for GE Capital Fleet Services. ‘Enabling fleet managers to systematically address recall repairs will minimize downtime and keep their drivers safer.’

The latest initiative forms part of GE Capital Fleet Services’ focus on safety solutions for customers, which includes products such as Accident Services reporting, repairs and subrogation; DriverCare MVR Manager for motor vehicle record compliance and reporting; and DriverCare Risk Manager for identifying at-risk drivers and assigning remedial training.
