Westchester in the US signs up to fuel & emissions standards for fleet vehicles

As reported by the Mid-Hudson News Network, Westchester county executive Robert Astorino has signed into law a bill approved by the Board of Legislators that mandates the purchase of high mileage, hybrid, electric or alternative fuel vehicles.

The new law requires the vehicles to produce a minimum of 35mpg and meet enhanced smog emissions standards.

‘This legislation demonstrates our commitment in Westchester County government to minimize the environmental impact of our daily operations,’ said Legislator Catherine Parker, chairwoman of the Environment and Energy Committee.
