Wraps come off Opel Insignia Sports Tourer
Opel has revealed its second-generation Insignia Sports Tourer at the Geneva Motor Show.
Unveiled alongside the Insignia Grand Sport, the estate is slightly longer and lower with an extended wheelbase that brings more room for passengers as well as a longer load area. With the seats folded flat, the Insignia Sports Tourer can accommodate loads of over two metres in length.
Opel’s new flagship model is also the brand’s first available with intelligent all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 360°camera.
The Insignia also brings technologies including Opel IntelliLux LED matrix headlights and a new Personal Assistant for Opel OnStar, which allows Insignia occupants to book hotel rooms and search for suitable parking spots via an OnStar Advisor.
In addition, Opel’s Crossland X crossover made its public debut in Geneva. The Crossland X will be positioned beneath the Mokka X when it goes on sale later this year and forms part of the carmaker’s ‘7 in 17’ product offensive, which will see seven new models launched during the course of the year including the new Insignia Grand Sport and Sports Tourer models plus the Ampera-e, Insignia Country Tourer, Vivaro and the Grandland X.
