Logistics firm XPO has hit a milestone in work to shift its UK company cars to fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.

XPO expects to have 100% of its UK company car fleet converted to fully electric cars or PHEVs by 2024

The company met its target to replace more than 50% of its automotive fleet with EVs or PHEVs by year-end 2022. Of the 177 vehicles on its fleet, 103 (58%) are now either plug-in hybrid or full EVs.

XPO expects to have 100% of the fleet converted by 2024 after adopting a company car policy based on offering only plug-in cars for business use.

It’s also adopting fully electric vans as part of work to reduce CO2 emissions from its UK transport fleet. The 25 eLCVs will come online during 2023 along with six battery light trucks.

The freight services specialist is also introducing hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and other alternative fuels; the company’s commercial fleet currently includes 150 HVO trucks and 23 natural gas-powered trucks. XPO will trial 26-tonne and 44-tonne battery electric vehicles within its network operations during 2023 in partnership with a number of its customers.
