Zipcar launches car sharing service in Taiwan

Zipcar has expanded into Asia for the first time with the launch of its car sharing service in Taipei, Taiwan.

Zipcar has launched its car sharing service in Taipei, Taiwan.

The service gives residents of Taipei on-demand access to a choice of cars, including the Volkswagen Golf, Audi A1, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta, and small vans such as the VW Caddy.

Zipcar is present in over 500 cities and towns across Europe and North America and said Taipei provides the ideal city in which to start its launch in the Asia-Pacific region. According to independent forecasts from Navigant, global car sharing members could reach 23.4 million by 2024, of which the Asia-Pacific region accounts for 49%.
