Citroën’s cube-like Ami One Concept, previewed at the Geneva Motor Show, provides an answer to drivers’ challenges when navigating around cities and finding parking while also providing a car-sharing solution for those who don’t want to own a car.

Citroën’s Ami One Concept

Speaking to Fleet World at the show, CEO Linda Jackson said: “It’s just a concept at the moment, but we’ve tried to create a concept that’s not just about the object, it is about an experience.”

So Citroën has created an ecosystem to provide a total mobility experience around car sharing.

“People want an easy seamless experience, so let’s see what their reaction is. You wouldn’t necessarily need a licence to drive it [as it’s classed as a quadricycle], you could book this car for five minutes, five hours, or five days, so that’s the car sharing. Or, you can have it for five years, which could be a rental-type PCP, or you could buy it outright.”

Jackson went on to explain that everything would be done online. So for example if you wanted the car for five minutes, you go on to the app, which is managed by Free2Move Lease, PSA’s business finance and mobility division, and will identify an Ami One for you, let you know it’s ready and arrange collection from a central area. You could also buy it on the app, with the option to test drive it at home, at a dealer, with the ability to do your financing on-line.

“Whether in Paris or London, customer research tells us there is a market — we’re talking a strong urban want. It could be any major city across the world.”
