Renault has unveiled its Arkana coupé-crossover at the 2018 Moscow Motor Show as it outlines the importance of the model to its international growth plans.

Renault Arkana

The c-segment midsize SUV will first be produced at Renault’s Moscow factory for launch in the local market in 2019, followed by production and launch in various global markets, including Asia and other regions but not Europe.

Developed to bring a best of both worlds approach covering saloon and SUV styling, the model will join the existing Kaptur in the Russian market – Groupe Renault’s second largest market after France – and will play a key role in the carmaker’s Drive the Future strategic plan, which puts the focus on expanding its product range to increase sales volumes up to 5 million units by 2022. The plan is for Russia to become the group’s leading market by the end date.

“The idea for this innovative concept came from Russia and the project was conducted with the strong involvement of Renault Russia teams. Arkana will meet Russian customers’ aspirations but also the ones of new customers in many countries worldwide, enabling Groupe Renault to further pursue its international growth as part of its Drive the Future strategic plan,” said Nicolas Maure, senior-vice-president, chairman of Eurasia region at the brand.
