Brake launches Road Safety Week global hub
Aimed at fleets as well as NGOs, government agencies, schools, communities and local agencies, the site – www.roadsafetyweek.org – gives easy access to road safety guidance, tools, resources and case studies.
Sponsored by RSA Insurance Group, the site is intended to help increase the number and impact of regular Road Safety Weeks around the world – which have been recognised for their value in the UN's action plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety.
The site shares Brake's experience as long-running organisers of national Road Safety Weeks in the UK and New Zealand, and showcases good practice case studies of other awareness-raising road safety events from around the world.
Resources that can be accessed through www.roadsafetyweek.org include:
Step by step guidance on organising and promoting a Road Safety Week for: national governments and NGOs; companies; educators; communities and local agencies;
A detailed guide to delivering a successful road safety publicity and media campaign;
An introductory guide to teaching road safety, with lesson and activity ideas for different age groups;
An interactive map of Road Safety Weeks and similar events from around the world, with a case study on each;
A library of downloadable tools and resources, split by topic, including posters, leaflets, web banners, adverts and interactive activities, many translated into several languages, on a range of key road safety topics; and
Road safety videos and adverts from around the world.
Brake is also running a series of free webinars alongside launching this site on coordinating Road Safety Week events, where attendees can hear from experienced organisers and get ideas and support:
