New technology and lower running costs for new Vito

By / 10 years ago / News / No Comments

Available in panel van, crew cab and Tourer specification, the new Vito gains 140mm in wheelbase across its three lengths, and offers a gross vehicle weight of between 2.8 and 3.2 tonnes with a cargo capacity of up to 1,369kg.

Its new design is said to reduce fuel consumption through reduced aerodynamics, helped by a choice of light front-wheel drive and heavy-duty rear-wheel drive versions.

Front-wheel drive models feature a new 1.6-litre diesel engine producing either 88hp (109 CDI) or 114hp (111 CDI), while rear-wheel drive versions use a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 136hp (114 CDI), 163hp (116 CDI) or 190hp in the Euro 6 119 BlueTEC.

All cars get a six-speed manual transmission or 7G-TRONIC PLUS seven-speed torque converter automatic, and combined fuel consumption is said to be up to 20% lower than its predecessor.

New equipment includes standard-fit Attention Assist and Crosswind Assist, and the Vito can be fitted with an automatic parking function, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping functions, and LED headlights.

Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
