The deal, which the firm says has been made in a move to consolidate its position in Central and Eastern Europe, sees Philip Aarsman, current Business Lease Group director of innovation and business development, appointed as the new managing director of Business Lease Romania.

He was previously a member of the board of Business Lease Group, where he had been responsible for Business Development since 2007. Before that he oversaw Central European activities for Business Lease for over seven years, which means that this region is familiar territory for him. In his new job, he will be managing FMS as it transitions into an International Business Lease organization. This transition phase is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015, after which FMS will continue operating under the brand name Business Lease Romania.

Mr Aarsman’s departure for Romania has left an opening that will be filled by Stijn Otten, who will take over his duties at Business Lease Group as director of innovation and business development.

In this role, Mr Otten will be responsible for everything related to market development, innovation and product development.

He brings a wealth of experience with innovation, new mobility and facilitating quick growth from his time with the EV charging service company “The New Motion”.

In a statement, the company said: ‘The board deliberately chose someone with knowledge and expertise from outside the leasing industry to gain a new perspective and find new ways to capitalise on the opportunities afforded by the European mobility market.’
