Daimler’s car2go carsharing subsidiary has implemented fully digital registration for its European customers.

Drivers in Europe can just use their smartphone and the car2go app to register for the service now.

Already available in the Chinese and American car2go locations, the online service means European customers no longer need to make a trip to a validation point to show their driving licence and ID and can instead register on the spot and rent a car2go car immediately.

The entire service is carried out on the car2go app, with the driver just needing to take a photo of their driving licence and one of themselves and upload them.

“We want to make the first contact our prospective customers have with our product as simple and uncomplicated as possible. We achieve this with a digital registration process – from start to end,” said Olivier Reppert, CEO of car2go. “Our online-based registration process allows the customer to be able to use a car2go car for whatever purpose within just a few minutes.”
