Dutch EV charging network records usage uplift

The company, which has 51 rapid chargers across the Netherlands, is looking to expand its network across the rest of Europe in the near future. It also has plans to grow its domestic network, with a co-oparative deal with Dutch railway company NS to install chargers in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.

During the first six months of 2016, the network recorded a 368% increase in traffic using the stations, while revenue climbed 256% – a difference attributed to some units being free to use.  The network now offers adaptors to enable DC rapid charging at 50kW for Tesla drivers, which is expected to be a key growth area, and Fastned offers four years of free charging for Nissan drivers too.

Michiel Langezaal, CEO of Fastned, said: ” Because no new stations were added during this half year, growth was entirely driven by more customers, who charge more often and longer at the existing stations. This autonomous growth proves our relevance to EV drivers based on network coverage, extremely reliable service (99.99% uptime per station) and transparent, attractive pricing.”
