ERM Advanced Telematics is advancing its work to expand into the global car sharing market.

ERM Advanced Telematics is increasingly targeting car sharing firms

The company’s devices are already installed in thousands of shared cars in India and Israel, using telematics products from its StarLink products line. These bring optional add-on features and required adjustments such as wireless communications technologies like Bluetooth, WiFi and RF, which can provide companies with the ability to control and immobilise a vehicle to prevent any unauthorised driver from using it.

The technology can also help car sharing firms monitor how drivers actually use the vehicles. ERMs’ advanced driver behaviour monitoring solution is based on sensors and CANBUS integration and allows a highly accurate monitoring at all times of both the vehicle from technical aspects and the driver’s activity. ERM also supplies various additional driver alerting solutions based on audio and visual alerts, to educate the driver during the trip.

ERM’s technology can also provide emergency button options that can be integrated onto the car’s original dashboard or as a separate button, and post-accident analysis, where needed, using a special blackbox technology that keeps the data prior to and after the accident and can be uploaded to the servers.

Finally, the company’s fuel management technology keeps track of the fuel status and reminds the driver to fill the tank when necessary while providing recommendations on petrol stations en route. The technology can also detect pilferage and refuelling events and can alert based on them.

“Car sharing companies operate in a high risk environment,” said Eitan Kirshenboim, chief marketing officer at ERM Advanced Telematics. “Minimising these risks while creating a comfortable experience for the subscribers are vital for these companies, and this is exactly what ERM offers.”
