Latest figures from the ACEA show that demand rose 1.2% last year compared to November 2012, with 938,021 registrations recorded.

The UK (+7.0%) and Spanish (+15.1%) markets contributed to the overall 1.2% upturn. However demand was down in Germany (-2.0%), France (-4.0%) and Italy (-4.5%). The ACEA added that in absolute figures, this represents the third lowest level recorded to date for a month of November.

The European new car market still remains down year to date, with a total of 10,945,360 new cars registered for the first 11 months of the year, down 2.7% on the same period in 2012.

From January to November, most significant markets shrank, ranging from -4.9% in Germany to -7.1% in France and -7.7% in Italy. Spain (+2.1%) and the UK (+9.9%) were the only ones to improve on the figures for the same period last year.

Volkswagen Group reported a 3.2% rise in registrations in Europe in November, with Volkswagen Passenger Cars up 0.8%, SEAT up 9.4% and Skoda up 18%, according to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg also reported that Renault increased its European sales 8.9% last month.
