Industry leaders are preparing to gather this week at Milton Keynes, to provide Masterclasses in fleet operational excellence at the seventh annual Great British Fleet Event.

Taking place this Thursday 16 April at Arena MK, the event will include a high-level conference programme spanning different Masterclass sessions that will give fleets a one-stop roadmap for operational success in an increasingly complex landscape.

Sessions include Fleet Management Fundamentals: Getting the Basics Right. Kicking off with expertise from Lorna McAtear, head of fleet at National Grid, this will also include an expert panel that will also feature Martin Edgecox, National Highways national fleet manager, and James Pestel, national sales manager at IFC Group and AFP board director, among other industry heavy hitters. Expect some vital insights on what fleet management looks like in 2026 – and don’t miss out on the chance to put your specific fleet dilemmas to some of the industry’s foremost legends.

Sessions will also include a look at Managing Vans and LCV Fleets: A Different Challenge. Expert speakers include Gareth Jones, fleet compliance manager, Speedy Hire, who will talk about mixed fleet challenges, technology and EV uptake. Meanwhile, Mark Horton, enforcement policy manager at the DVSA, will look at tackling LGV compliance problems. And Giles Bolton from Grosvenor will also deliver an expert talk on managing van and LCV fleets.

The event will also include a session on Technology, data and AI: opportunity or overload? Ryan Naughton from the AA will be on hand to talk about how the company is using AI to improve vehicle downtime, while Ken Munro from Pen Test Partners will share expert insights in cyber-security issues for fleets and businesses. Gonzalo Escobar, senior solutions engineer at Motive, will also talk about latest tech breakthroughs in AI and how they’re helping fleets.

Risk management and driver wellbeing will come under focus in a specialist session. Specialist speakers include Professor David Crundall, CTO and co-founder of Esitu Solutions, who will guide on how to tackle risk with hazard perception training. LMP Legal will also give a presentation on future-proofing your operational resilience. And Jaama will be up on the podium to talk about how to enhance driver safety through fleet compliance.

Last but by no means least, the EVs and Sustainability: From Ambition to Execution Masterclass will shed valuable lights for fleets on electrification. Whether you’re new to EVs or a seasoned pro, there will be something for everyone. Northgate will give a presentation on the secrets of success for the EV transition, while Diode will also outline its best practice advice on turning EV ambition into real-world results.

Also in the EV session, Volteum will outline to attendees how to move on from EV strategy to scalable, sustainable execution. And The Charge Scheme will counsel fleets on how to turn EV goals into reality.

All sessions will include an audience Q&A at the end – giving attendees the opportunity to quiz experts in the field direct.

The day culminates in the prestigious Great British Fleet Awards; a black-tie gala dinner recognising the best vehicles, managers and service firms in the UK. This year’s headline speaker is rugby legend Rocky Clark MBE, who will share motivational insights on leadership and teamwork.
